Get Away From It All By Surfing

Surfing pictures are probably one of the most popular images in the Hawaiian Islands. Other popular images include waterfalls, sea cliffs, beaches, mountains and of course volcanos, extinct or active. As you can see there is a lot of amazing scenery on the islands and surfing pictures really try to capture all of it.

A group of people surfing in the 1950s at Waikiki, with Diamond Head in the background.

This old time image shows a lot of people catching the same wave at Waikiki. In the background you can see Diamond Head. This picture was probably taken when surfing first gained wide appeal because of the promotion of the growing surf culture in California.

A surfer drops into a clear blue wave on a windy day on Maui.

The volcanic rocks in the foreground show the rugged coastline of Maui. The sharp rocks and many tide pools harbor all sorts of various lifeforms. Getting pushed up against these rocks must be avoided when you are out surfing these breaks like this one in Maui. You can see one of the other islands in the background, it could be Molokai but I am not quite sure.

Reserve a Valley Isle Excursions Tour while on Maui and see some of these surfing spots yourself. The tour stops at a North Shore hotspot to take in the views and allow you to snap some pictures of a classic Maui, Hawaii surfing break.
